چکیده

Symbolic preprocessing techniques are very useful to obtain low order LFT-representations for parametric models. In this paper we give an overview about existing preprocessing methods and we present new techniques and enhancements of existing methods. All methods are implemented in the new version 2 of the LFR-toolbox and their capabilities are illustrated by a challenging aircraft parametric uncertainty modelling example. Copyright c 2005 IFAC.

Nonlinear symbolic LFT tools for modelling, analysis and design

In this chapter, a general nonlinear symbolic LFT modelling framework and its support LFT tools are presented. The modelling approach developed combines the natural modularity and clarity of presentation from LFT modelling with the ease of manipulation from symbolic algebra. It results in an exact nonlinear symbolic LFT that represents an ideal starting point to apply subsequent assumptions and...

Exact Nonlinear Modelling Using Symbolic Linear Fractional Transformations

In this paper, a nonlinear modelling framework is presented that combines symbolic modelling and linear fractional transformation (LFT) techniques to obtain a nonlinear symbolic LFT representation. This modelling approach presents three clear advantages: (i) it provides a unifying framework for the different models that stem from the same nonlinear system, (ii) it allows for a highly structured...

Symbolic and numerical software tools for LFT-based low order uncertainty modeling

One of the main difficulties in applying modern control theories for designing robust controllers for linear uncertain plants is the lack of adequate models describing structured physical model uncertainties. We present a systematic approach for the generation of uncertainty models described by linear fractional transformations (LFTs) and report on recently developed symbolic and numerical soft...

LFT-free μ-analysis of LTI/LPTV systems

μ-analysis has for many years been the de facto standard robustness analysis tool in a wide variety of control applications. To use μ-analysis, the uncertain system must be cast in the form of a linear fractional transformation (LFT). Once it is appropriately transformed, a variety of algorithms are available to calculate the upper and the lower bounds on μ. Several difficulties arise during th...

Beyond Simulation: Computer Aided Control System Design Using Equation-Based Object Oriented Modelling for the Next Decade

After 20 years since their birth, equation-oriented and object-oriented modelling techniques and tools are now mature, as far as solving simulation problems is concerned. Conversely, there is still much to be done in order to provide more direct support for the design of advanced, modelbased control systems, starting from object-oriented plant models. Following a brief review of the current sta...
